Insiza Youths ready to be peace ambassadors

Youths in Insiza have expressed positive sentiments on engaging in positive peace building initiatives in their community. This was noted during a workshop held on Tuesday 12 July 2011 at Insiza community hall. The meeting had in attendance 35 youths 17 of whom were female. This was the second meeting that NYDT has held in Insiza after invitations to engage youths in the area in more nation building initiatives.

From the workshop youths interacted on issues relating to peace building, leadership and community mobilisation, human rights as well as lobbying and advocacy. Youths were encouraged to form peace building groups or clubs were they would discuss the promotion and the sustaining peace in their respective communities. From there youths would be expected to be involved in sustainable community development initatives. Youths were also encouraged to use sports and other positive initiatives so that peace does not remain “a borrowed term but rightfully implemented in lower echelons of the community”.
