NYDT evicted from NSSA building for alleged “anti-government” activities

NYDT has been evicted from its compensation house offices by NSSA on
the accusations that,
1. T he organization is producing and distributing a purportedly
anti-government newsletter

2. The organization is holding meetings with large numbers of people
in their offices and that these meetings could be anti government

3. There are too many people visiting the organisation’s offices

The management at NSSA claimed that compensation house is a government
building and cannot therefore house and organization conducting
“anti-government” activities.

The eviction of NYDT from the building comes hard on the heel of
successive interruptions of NYDT activities by the police and multiple
threatening phone calls from the state agents. NYDT had their Sports
festival cancelled in Binga, War-vets threatening NYDT staff and
disrupting a meetings in Matabeleland North and South and police
stopping an Arts festival in Nkulumane. The contestation of the youth
constituency has heightened as ZANU PF mobilizes for a possible
election without fundamental reforms.

NYDT, however, has secured offices on 5th floor at LAPF House, Corner
Jason Moyo and 8th Avenue in Bulawayo and would continue carry out
activities to mobilize young men and women to effectively and
meaningfully exercise their democratic right to participate in
critical national processes such as the constitution making, elections
and call for necessary reforms for democratization and development of
Zimbabwe.

Tell the agents that the winds of change are blowing, and they are blowing hard!
